Our Team

Aseem V. Garg, CFA is the founder and Chief Investment Officer of Ahara Advisors.

Previously, Aseem was Head of Risk at Tetragon. At Tetragon, he built the corporate Private Equity practice. Mr. Garg served as Head of Risk for both Tetragon Financial Group, the publicly traded closed end fund managing $2.5B, and TFG AM, it’s asset management division with $30B in assets.

Prior to Tetragon, Aseem built out the Portfolio Strategy and Analytics team and function at Willett Advisors, the family office for Michael Bloomberg. He helped to coordinate billions into investments and philanthropic endeavors.

Before Willett, Aseem was a portfolio manager at Silver Creek Capital investing money in hedge funds and tail-risk mitigation strategies. Aseem managed tail hedging derivatives for the firm during the 2008 financial crisis, the flash crash, and the US debt downgrade.

Aseem started his career building trading and research software for Bridgewater Associates.

Aseem graduated from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) with Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Policy & Management, with a minor in Business Administration. While at CMU, Aseem served as President of the CMU Chapter of Amnesty International and as Student Area Coordinator for Amnesty International Pittsburgh.

Aseem V. Garg

Kamel Tarazi is the Chief Operating Officer at Ahara Advisors.

Previously, Kamel was a Managing Director at Geller Advisors, a Multi- Family Office financial services firm where he worked with Aseem who was employed by Geller’s primary client. At Geller Advisors, he has managed a multi-billion-dollar portfolio held by philanthropic entities and a personal trust, while co-leading finance and financial operations teams.

Before Geller Advisors, Kamel was Controller of Rho Capital Partners, where he oversaw multiple investment portfolios, managed the firm’s annual operating budget, and optimized the firm’s reporting systems.

Kamel is proficient in process optimization, financial analysis and risk management. He has spent the latter part of his career as acting Chief Financial Officer, focusing on estate planning and financial control.

He started his career at the National Bank of Kuwait, where Kamel held the roles of interim CFO and Controller.

Kamel graduated from State University of New York at Binghamton with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Mathematics. He also received his M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, concentrating in Finance and Information Technology.

Kamel Tarazi

Jay M. Patel, CFA is a Vice President at Ahara Advisors.

Prior to joining Ahara Advisors, Jay was an Associate on Bank of America’s gaming, lodging & leisure equity research team. He performed fundamental research, including financial modeling, valuation analysis, and investment due diligence. He co-authored research publications on companies around major events such as earnings, management meetings, and broader industry trends.

Prior to obtaining his CFA Charter, Jay helped to underwrite and structure debt capital financing activities for general industries in BofA’s syndicated finance group. Prior to this, Jay began his career in BofA’s leveraged finance group, supporting the underwriting, structuring, and syndication of senior and subordinated debt capital for portfolio companies of financial sponsors.

Jay graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance.

Jay M. Patel

Heidi Brown is an Advisor of Business Development at Ahara Advisors.

Heidi is CEO at Brilliance by Brown, Inc., and a Marketing Advisor and Business Leader.

Prior to founding Brilliance by Brown, Heidi was a seasoned C-Suite marketing executive in the technology sector—specifically, data storage, networking, and enterprise software solutions. Her list of accomplishments includes the release of three enterprise software products for the financial services and business services sectors, and she helped successfully position a B2B media technology company for an acquisition sale in 2017.

Heidi graduated from Columbia Business School, Columbia University with an MBA, and she earned a B.A. in English Literature from University of California, Berkeley. Heidi is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Menopause Foundation, and Board Member of The Digital Diversity Network.
